what is the evidence that Benjamin Bellows is the father of James Bellows? I cannot find any concrete evidence that he is the father. Would appreciate any help! I've been searching for parents of James Bellows.

Nellie: Thanks for your alertness. I agree James is not the son of Benjamin Bellows and I have removed him from that status. His birth and death dates appear to be accurate but he obviously belongs to another line. Sorry I cannot be more specific as to whom his father might be.

Douglas M. Henry Albany, Oregon

Removed "His principal official distinction in civil life was being chosen President of the College of Electors in his state for the choice of the first President of the United States, January 7, 1789. He was also Elector of President when John Adams was chosen. "

This applies to his son Gen Benjamin Bellows. Col. Benjamin Bellows was dead before these presidents were elected.
