Susannah Bemis, twin sister of Hannah, was born on December 3, 1705, in Watertown, Middlesex, Massachusetts[1]. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Harrington) Bemis. Susannah married Isaac Pierce on September 7, 1722, in Watertown[2].
Susanna married Isaac Peirce on 7 September 1722 in Watertown, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[3]
Fact: Burial (1785) Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States of America
Susannah was mentioned on a memorial in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States with a death date of 28 November 1785.[4]
Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch This Susannah was the second child of the same in this family. The first unfortunately died very young. Susanna was also a twin, and many twins in those days did not live, so it is nice to see a happy ending to her story. Susanna and her twin were born when her mother was about 42, and they rounded out John and Mary's large family.
Normally, the "to go" sources for this family include Henry Bond's History of Watertown and T.W.M. Draper's book entitled "The Bemis Genealogy." Unfortunately, both of these sources confused this Susanna Bemis with her near relative of the same name, and said she married John Viles. Not true. She is mentioned in her father John's will as "Susanna Pierce." This particular Susanna married Isaac Pierce on 7 September 1722. The marriage is listed in Watertown vital records:
Bemis, Susanna, and Isaac Peirce, Sept. 7, 1722.
Fact: Authors Bond and Draper Sadly Had it Wrong In Bond's History of Watertown and The Bemis Genealogy by Draper states that John Viles, who died 4 February 1774, married Susannah Bemis, daughter of John Bemis and Mary Harrington. UNFORTUNATELY THEY WERE MISTAKEN. Susanna is referred to in her father's will as "Susannah Pierce." Isaac Pierce and Susannah Bemis married in Watertown 7 September 1722. The Susannah who married John Viles was the daughter of Joseph Bemis and his wife Elizabeth Pierce.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Susannah by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Susannah:
Susanna Suferanna Peirce (born 22 May 1732) is the daughter of Lt. Isaac Peirce and Susanna Bemis. She married Simeon Daniel Hagar, Sr. 21 Feb 1752 in Waltham, Middlesex, MA. I found this info after several years of research at "Watertown, Massachusetts Genealogies and History" Genealogies of the Families and Descendants of the Early Settlers of Watertown, MA>Family Memories Page 398. People continue to try and make her parents James Priest (born 1737) and Abigail Laurence (1739) the parents of Susanna Preist born (1732) which makes her older than her parents.
So John Bemis had two daughters named Susanna. Then who is the 3rd Susanna? I don't think there were 3. In his Will, John Bemis mentioned daughter Susannah Peirce, so we know that she belongs in this family.
I think the father of Susannah, John Viles's wife, is wrong. It isn't John Bemis but, instead, Joseph Bemis. In his Will, Joseph Bemis mentions his daughter Susannah Viles. I'm going to find the correct Joseph Bemis and see if it fits.

Susanna Bemis-94 married John Viles-35. She died in 1785. Susana Bemis-124 married John Hastings in 1702, and she died in 1703. Susanna-94 was the sister of Susanna-124. Susanna Bemis-206 was the niece of Susanna-124 and -94.
Too many sussanah bemis'. see bemis - 206, bemis - 94 and bemis - 430. I have looked through several publications. I am still a little confused but it looks like Bemis - 206 married viles - 35 and bemis - 430 married pierce - 5462 and bemis - 94 is actually bemis- 206. I am posting this on all of the above since I am really not sure.
