Albert Ebenezar Benjamin served in Canadian Armed Forces in World War I and died in Halifax before going overseas. A granite tombstone issued by Department of Veterans Affairs marks his grave in the Coldwell Cemetary at Newtonville, Kings County, Nova Scotia.

Son of Mrs. Alonzo Schofield (formerly Benjamin), of Greenfield, N.S.

Albert Ebenezer Benjamin was one of seven children of Willard and Sophie Benjamin (nee Demont) of Newtonville, Nova Scotia. Albert died in Halifax, 4 months after enlisting, of consumption and heart failure. He is buried in what is known as the Coldwell Cemetery in Newtonville. The cemetery is located in a wooded area far off the main road beside a farm field. His father, a brother and an infant sister are also buried in this location but he is the only family member with a headstone. There are numerous headstones for Coldwell family members hence the cemetery name. His reference on the Halifax Memorial is due to the abandoned status of this cemetery until recently (about 2006) when it was restored by local interests and the CWGC.
