Biography

Justephenica Bennett is said to have been born sometime between in about1686 in King and Queen County, Virginia. King and Queen County, however was not established until 1691 when it was created from New Kent County. Perhaps Justephinca was born in the portion of New Kenty county that later became King and Queen county. She is said to have been the daughter of William Bennett and his wife Mary Smith. [1] However, it is possible that Mary Smith was a widow at the time of her marriage to William Bennett and that she is in fact the Mary Warner who married John Smith in 1680 in Gloucester County, Virginia. [2]

A birth date of 1686 places Justephenica's birth two years after the 1684 marriage of William Bennett and his wife Mary Smith in Middlesex County, Virginia. [3]

On 26 April 1712 Justephenica Bennett and Sawyer Bennett, said to be her brother, were granted rights to 230 acres of land in King and Queen County, Virginia, together with 400 lb "tobo" [tobacco?] importation rights. [4]
