I have to say that Mary Bennett who married William Johnson was NOT the daughter of John Bennet, according to the Marriage Record, it said she was of West Chester, England. While William Johnson was from of Norwich, England. Of course I could be reading the marriage document incorrectly. But it does mention of Norwich and of West Cheshire. So, I believe they both were not born in Virginia.
Christ Church Parish, Virginia Marriages, 1653-1812
Name: William Johnson
Spouse: Mary Bennett
Marriage Date: 10 Feb. 1688/9
Comment: of Norwich; of West Chester (isn't this saying, William Johnson is of Norwich and Mary Bennet is of West Chester?????)
As I looked at Baptism Records for that area here is what I found two baptism Records for a Mary Bennett and a Marie Bennet.
The First: Marie Bennet Baptized 21 Nov. 1658 •St. John the Baptist, Chester, Cheshire, England, Father Robert Bennet, This Marie Bennet would have been 24 years old when she arrived in Virginia in the year 1682 and 29 years old when she married William Johnson in Middlesex, VA on 10 February 1688
The Second Mary: Was Baptized: 1 June 1662 • Chester, St Peter, Cheshire, England. Her Father was Joseph Bennett, This Mary would have been 20 years old when she arrived in Virginia in 1682 and 24 years old, when she married William Johnson.
I think these both would be better choices than her father being John Bennet. And I think John Bennet should be removed. People did not travel far from there home for Baptismal. Here are some of the towns in West Cheshire, England (Thornton-le-Moors, Burton, Chester, Frodsham. . .etc.), And unless there is documental proof that John Bennet is her father. I believe he should be removed as her father.
Bennett-1639 and Bennett-1198 appear to represent the same person because: This is an obvious match with a couple of details that need correction with connected data, like death date.
Bennett-1639 and Bennett-1198 do not represent the same person because: The unsourced profile with different birth place, death year, etc., could be an entirely different Mary.
