John Bennett was baptised on 25th April 1773 at St Peter and St Paul's church, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. He was the third child born to Alexander and Ann Bennett. [1]
He was apprenticed to his father Alexander as a waterman, on June 12th 1787, and obtained his freedom on November 20th 1794.
He was married to Sarah Woodgate at St Peter and St Paul's church, Milton, Gravesend, on 2nd May 1796. [2]
In 1819, under the terms of his father Alexander's will, he was left a house in The Terrace, Milton, Gravesend, in which he was currently residing.
The 1841 census finds John and his daughter Sarah living at 4, Cottage Place, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. [3]
