Son of Frederick Manuel Bennett (1886-1942) and Alta B. Henshaw (1894-1982), Benjamin was born in Port Huron, Michigan in 1925.[1][2] He married Bessie Churchill (1824-2006) in 1944; they divorced in 1947. He married Edna Basnaw in Port Huron in 1948, and their children included:

He passed away in 1993[3] and is buried at Woodland Cemetery in Port Huron, Michigan.
