Biography

Jesse Anthony Bennett, son of William N. Bennett and Louisa Sleigh, was born on 6 Aug. 1878 in Texas, USA. His memorial has his date of birth as 1872 but the census records are consistent with 1878.^[1]

He appeared on the census of 19 June 1880 in the home of his parents at Johnson County, Texas.^[2]

He was a farmer when he appeared on the census of 9 June 1900, in the home of his mother, at Wise County, Texas.^[3]

He married Sara Louella "Ella" and "Lela" Boydstun, daughter of Thomas Jefferson Boydston and Sarah Ann Knox, on 3 Nov. 1904 at Woodruff County, Arkansas.^[4]

He was a laborer doing odd jobs when he and Ella appeared on the census of 21 April 1910 at Hale County, Texas.^[5]

Jesse died on 11 Dec. 1943 and was buried at Plot: Block 16 Lot 1, Rose Hill Cemetery, Chickasha, Grady County, Oklahoma. His memorial has a photo of his headstone.^[1]
