The widow Mary Bennet married the widower James Alcock at St Andrew, Longham, Norfolk, England on 20 January 1795.[1] Mary's marital status seems to be confused - for the baptism of William in 1795 she was "late Bennet, widow"; for the baptisms of Thomas, John, Joshua, and Susan she was "late Bennet, spinster".
Assuming she was a spinster when she married James, she was probably the daughter of George and Elizabeth Bennet, baptised Maria at East Dereham, Norfolk in 1773.[2]
The best match for a burial record for Mary is from Hardingham in 1834 where the deceased was aged 70.[3] This would give a birth about 1764. No obvious matching baptism record has been found.
