Richard Bennett was born in 1680, in Isle of Wight, Virginia, and died August 2, 1744, in Surry county, Virginia. [1] Richard married Mary Beatty and is the father of Amy Bennett, who married William Bobbitt. [2]

I am not convinced that what follows is correct. There seems to be little evidence to link May Bennett's father back to the early Governor of Virginia. KP
