Robert Bennett was in Newport in 1639, when a homestead lot of ten acres was granted to him. He was a tailor by trade, and was in the employ of Governor Coddington. He was admitted a freeman in 1655.
Robert's father was originally linked as William Bennett William hails from Wiviliscombe in Somerset, England. His son Edward was born within 9 months of this Robert. William removed as the father.
