Myrtle was born on 31 October 1892 in New Hinksey in south Oxford, in Oxfordshire. She was the daughter of Alfred Bennett and his wife Fanny, born Fanny Lindsey. [1] [2] [3]
1901 census: Myrtle Bennett was living at Marston in Oxfordshire with her parents, Alfred and Fanny, and their other daughters. Her age was given as 9, implying a birth date in 1891 or 1892. Her birthplace was given as New Hinksey, Oxford. [2]
Richard Charles Frederick Knibbs and Myrtle Bennett were married after banns in Marston, Oxfordshire on 22nd August 1914[4]. They were bachelor and spinster. Richard was a labourer living at 6 Friar Street, St Ebbes, Oxford and the son of Richard Knibbs who was a labourer. Myrtle was 21, living in Old Marston and the daughter of Alfred Bennett who was also a labourer. The witnesses to the marriage were Edward Reynolds and May Bennett[5].
Francis Smith (bachelor, aged 36), a builder, of Marston, son of Stephen Smith, stonemason; and Myrtle Madge Knibbs (widow, aged 26), of Tylers Cottages, Marston Road, daughter of Alfred Bennett, labourer; were married at Marston parish church on 28 June 1919. [6]
Myrtle Madge Smith died in 1974. [3]
