Cumberland Argus and Fruitgrowers Advocate (Parramatta, NSW : 1888 - 1950), Saturday 11 November 1922, page 4 WEDDING BELLS. BLACK—BENNETT. The marriage of Mr. John Black, son of the late Mr. James Black and Mrs. Black, of "Montrose," Castle Hill, to Miss Ruby P. Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Bennett, "Lue," Hillcrest Sst, Homebush, was solemnised by the Rev. J. Roberts, (rector of Castle Hill), at St. John's Church, Parramatta, on Saturday, 4th inst. Bridal preludes were played by the organist, whilst the guests were assembling. During the signing of the register, Mr. J. Cox sang, "Because," and the "Wedding March," was played at the conclusion of the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a very pretty bridal gown of ivory georgette, hand-embroidered with silver beads; her Brussels lace veil, arranged as a cap, was encircled with orange blossom buds, and side clusters of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white carnations with tulle streamers, this with a cheque, being the gifts of the bridegroom. Misses Myra and Ida Ben nett (bride's sisters) as bridesmaids, were prettily and daintily frocked alike in pink crepe-de-chine, beaded, worn with hats to match, with pink and blue streamers; their bouquets of pink carnations, and gold bangles, were the bride groom's gifts. Mr. Arthur Muir was best man, and Mr. Locke Thompson grooms man. Mrs. Bennett (bride's mother) wore black satin charmante, with lace overdress, and black and silver hat, and carried a bouquet of red carnations: Mrs. Black (bridegroom's mother) black crepe.
