Biography

Joseph Luke Benoit was born 26 May 1883[1] in Marches Point, Newfoundland.

Vital Statistics Records of Birth for the 1880s are missing so we cannot confirm birth or death date with a certificate, however, there are two graves in Lourdes old Roman Catholic Cemetery, which appear to be Joseph and his wife. Their names are engraved on a plate on a cross. This would confirm birth year of 1882 and death year of 1959 for Joseph Luke.[2]

JOSEPH LUKE BENOIT 1882-1959 MARY BENOIT(DUBOIS) 1889-1970

This falls in line with his age being 26, therefore born in 1882, when he married Mary. Family tradition, and online trees, suggest that Joseph Benoit, son of Luc and Catherine Jesso, b. 1883 in around Marches Point married a Mary Woods/Dubois[1].
