Osite Blanche Benoit was born around 1736, possibly in Cobequid, Acadia, Colony of Nova Scotia. [1] Her parents were Jean Benoit and Marie Josephe Theriault. [2]
She was listed at age 19 on the 1752 census at Baye de Mordienne, Isle Royale with her widowed mother and siblings. [3]
At around age 20, she married Nicolas Petitpas, 63-year-old widower of Madeleine Simon, on March 19, 1756 in Louisbourg. [2][4]
