Biography

Elizabeth Bourne, daughter of John Bourne and Alice (Besbeech) Bourne, was born in Marshfield, Plymouth Colony on May 31, 1646.[1][2]

Elizabeth married Josiah/Joseph Bent in Marshfield on June 30, 1666.[3][2] Elizabeth and Josiah/Joseph appear to have settled in Marshfield and then moved Josiah/Joseph's hometown of Sudbury sometime in 1669-1673.[4]

Elizabeth and Josiah/Joseph had the following children:

  1. Joseph, b. October 11, 1667 in Marshfield,[4] d. young[4]
  2. daughter, name unknown, b. in Marshfield[4]
  3. Experience, b. in Marshfield[4]
  4. daughter, name unknown, b. in Marshfield[4]
  5. Elizabeth, b. 1673 in Sudbury, m. October 11, 1701 Thomas Joyce in Marshfield
  6. Joseph, b. March 5, 1675 in Sudbury[4]

After Elizabeth's husband, Josiah/Joseph, died in 1675, Elizabeth and her children probably returned to her parents' home in Marshfield. Elizabeth seems to have died shortly thereafter, and in any event before 1684, as estate records for her father refer to the five orphan children brought up by him.[4]

What's going on with the sources? Span class hidden? Can we fix this please so that the citations are viewable? ... And I'm not saying it's your fault, Chase, only that I know you can fix it.  :)

Fixed it. The problem wasn't the class hidden. It was because the ref defs were below <references/>. They have to be above <references/> in order to show. The situation occurred because I used to put them between Sources and <references/> and someone had used the BioChecker app, which flags anything between Sources and <references/> as an error, and fixed it by putting them below <references/> (when the correct fix would have been to put them above Sources).

This profile is a mix of (1) Elizabeth Bourne, b. 1646, m. 1666 Josiah Bent and (2) Elizabeth Bent, b. 1673, m. Thomas Joyce 1701. Neither could have been the daughter of Francis Bourne, b. 1570. Based on LNAB, I am converting this a profile for Elizabeth Bourne, b. 1646, m. 1666 Josiah Bent and disconnecting Francis Bourne as father.

I am disconnecting John Bourne has her husband. He was born about 1612. And there is no evidence that he married someone with the same last name.
