Horatio Nelson Bent was born in Nictaux, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia in 1846 to James and Eliza Bent. His Father was a Blacksmith.
Horatio was a Carpenter at the time of his marriage. On June 5, 1869 in Wilmot, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Horatio married Mary E. Stronach by Baptist Lisence.
