William was born in 1885. He passed away in 1914.[1]
This is my grandfather I never knew. My mom, Hallie, was born when he was about 40. Her mom died when she was 4 and was an orphan after her dad died. The family took care of each other. (There were 12 children.) They moved to Texas ca 1905. Before that Mom said they had lived in Kokomo, Indiana. It seems her dad and brothers were able to work in a "brick factory" there. Not only did they live in Estill County, Kentucky, they also lived in Madison County, Kentucky. In Texas they experienced the results of a Hurricane and had to return to Kentucky. The oldest brother had established a home in Fort Bend County, Texas and the others moved there also. They were share croppers in Texas.
Because of the stress of raising the family William had a "nervous breakdown". The older brothers took him to New Orleans to get help and while there he passed away. They took his body by train to Kentucky to be buried next to his beloved Mary.
