Armelin Benton was born in Brunswick County, North Carolina around 1838, according to the 1850 census. He married Margaret Stanley around 1859 and lived in Brunswick County, North Carolina. He also married Amanda Mizell on July 1, 1893 in Folkston, Georgia and lived there until his death. He appears in the 1900 census in Folkston, and probably died there in 1903.
