Jacob Benton, son of Samuel, was born in Hartford, Connecticut on
21 Sep 1698. [1]
Volume 2 of the New England Families [2] has this information:
Jacob purchased eight acres of land in Hartford from his brother Samuel on April 3, 1723. He lived there until 1736 or 1737. On March 10, 1741 he sold the place to Deacon Joseph Holtom. Jacob was surveyor of highways December 11, 1729 and grand juror December 12, 1732.
His father gave him land in Harwinton in 1732 and Jacob signed a petition in May 1736 to have the place incorporated as a town, and on October 4, 1737 a petition granted. At the first town meeting held at his house December 20 1737 he was chosen town clerk and other positions. He served until 1741.
Jacob Benton and Abigail Carter married July 6, 1724 in Harwinton, Connecticut. [3]
After the death of Abigail, Jacob Benton remarried with Elizabeth Hinsdell/Hinsdale in Harwinton, Connecticut on
