She was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Minster, to Herman A. and Catherine H. Huecker Berning. On Sept. 20, 1947, she married Roy A. May who died Aug. 24, 2004.
She retired from Mid-west Telephone Operations in 1982 after 42 years in the telephone industry and was a lifetime member of the Pioneer Telephone Association.
A graduate of Minster High School, she was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Sodality, American Legion Auxiliary post 323 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary post 9289.
