Biography

Westbrook Berry was born on 16 Dec 1734 in Scarborough, Maine, to parents Elisha Larrabee Berry and his first wife, Mary (Babb) Berry.[1]

He was married to Jane Freeman on 15 Jan 1755 in Scarborough[2] and had at least three children by the winter of 1763. His fourth known child, Rebecca, was born in Machias in 1766.

  2. Sally Berry
  3. John Berry
  4. Rebecca Berry

In a book apparently entitled, History of Machias Media, we learn that Westbrook was one of 13 men, plus 3, to build a double saw mill in Machias begun in the spring of 1764. He and (perhaps his cousin) Isaac Larrabee took their wives and children with them on this mission.
