Biography

Rebecca Berry[1] was born about 1745-50,[2] one of fifteen children and nine daughters of John and Unknown Unknown Berry.
About 1770, she married Jacob Gillespie in Augusta County, Virginia]. She bore him fourteen children, six sons and eight daughters:

  3. Alexander Gillespie
  4. John Gillespie
  5. Rachel Gillespie
  6. Mary Jane Gillespie
  7. Margaret Gillespie
  8. Thomas Gillespie
  9. Elizabeth Gillespie
  10. Samuel Gillespie
  11. Sarah Gillespie
  12. Rebecca Gillespie
  13. Nancy Gillespie
  14. James W. Gillespie.
After March 1825 , when she was about eighty, she died of unknown causes near Greenbank, Pocohontas County, Virginia,[3] perhaps in Bath County.
She is probably buried on the family farm.[4]
