Biography

William was born in 1894. William Berry ... He passed away in 1977 at Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen. [1]

WW1 - Gunner in the Royal Artillery; served at Passchendaele. Living at 170 Crown Street, Aberdeen, working then as a Motor Car Driver, 1927. Married Mary Murison at 49 Elmbank Terrace, Aberdeen, September 6 1927. Father to William [Billy], Elizabeth [Betty], Isobel and Denis. Family lived at Allan Street and Cairncry Road, Aberdeen. Later moved to Wallfield Place, Aberdeen. Worked latterly as a gardener - including at Gordon House on Rubislaw Den, Aberdeen. Had an allotment at Mannofield, Aberdeen; won many prizes at garden shows in the city [I remember large leeks, onions and varieties of potatoes. Also sold vegetables at the Friday market on The Green, Aberdeen. Bagpipe and harmonica player. Great Dons fan, regularly attended first team and reserve matches at Pittodrie.
