James Berry Snr, James jnr, Joseph, Thomas, were all school teachers at one stage, and it is pleasing to note that all were able to read and write from childhood, a not too common practice in the early 1800's . This profession carried on through many generations. The family were fiercely religious and preached with fervour where ever they chose to live. They were Wesleyan Methodists, and later became members of either the Congregational or Salvation Army Churches. All of them had large families which were very close. Perhaps in the not to distant future we will be able to go another hundred years back into our family history. Helen and I would like to add that we have enjoyed tracing our 'tree ' and consider ourselves lucky to have met you all so, from now on the plodding may be a little slower but rest assured we won't give up.
