Biography

EDSON JULIUS BERRY

LITTLETON, NH � Edson J. Berry, 90, of Fairview Street, passed away on November 18, 2004 at the Littleton Regional Hospital after a six-month illness.

A native of Littleton, Edson was born a son to Clyde and Grace (Golden) Berry on June 21, 1914. He attended Littleton schools and graduated from Littleton High School in 1932.

Edson married Louise Parker in June of 1938 at the Parker Farm Homestead in Littleton. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last June. Edson was employed by the Littleton National Bank, Eames Enterprises, Fellows Gear Schaper in Springfield, VT, and returned to Littleton to work for local furniture stores before opening his own in 1947, with his wife, Louise. They owned and operated Berry�s Wayside Furniture for 38 years.

Edson was an avid sportsman, outdoorsman, and family man. He and Louise were one of four founding couples of the Littleton Square Dance Club. He was a round dance cuer. They traveled extensively 36 years to dance and enjoy the many friends they found through it. He was the longest living member of the First United Methodist Church in many capacities throughout the years. His hobbies included hiking, skiing, fishing, tennis, camping and doing stained glass work. He was a 32 degree Mason at Burns Lodge #66 for 50 years, Past President of Littleton Rotary Club, Littleton Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, The Grange and Eastern Star. Edson was instrumental in the building of the first Littleton Little League field in Littleton with several of his close friends. He was an official photographer for the NH/VT Civil Air Patrol and a member of the National Ski Patrol. He was most proud of his family, faith, and friends.

Surviving family members include his wife, Louise (Athaleen) Berry of Littleton, a daughter, Pamela J. Mooney and husband, Merle of Westbrook, ME; a son, Thomas C. Berry and wife, Paula of Littleton; three grandchildren, Dawn Conrad, June Butterfield, and Jason Berry; three great-grandchildren, Ashlee Butterfield, Tad Butterfield, and Nikolle Conrad; one brother, Richard and wife, Marjory Berry and their family of Goffstown, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the First United Methodist Church of Littleton Memorial Fund, Pleasant Street, Littleton, NH 03561

SERVICES � The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 101 Union Street, Littleton. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen E. Bascom, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
