Myrtle B. Berry was born September 14, 1893 in Berryton, Shawnee Co., Kansas. She was the daughter of George Webster Berry (1860-1954) and Floraetta Clark Berry (1860-1939). Her father was born in a log cabin in Berryton, named after his father. Her father was a stockman, storekeeper, railroad agent, teacher and the first postmaster of Berryton.
Myrtle grew up in Berryton and first married Albert H. Seene, who died in 1918.
She married Orley L. Olmsted on April 8, 1920, in Lawrence, Douglas Co., KS. He was the son of Philip and Marium (Lewright) Olmsted. [1]
Orley and Myrtle made their home in Lawrence, Kansas. They had two children, Edith and Roger O. Olmsted. [2]
Orley Olmsted died in 1956. Myrtle died May 20, 1992 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lawrence, Kansas. Her obituary appeared in the Lawrence Journal-World, Lawrence, Kansas on Sunday, May 24, 1992 and in part said,
Myrtle Olmsted is buried in Memorial Park cemetery in Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas. [3]
