Granville Smith Berry, son of Fielding Lee and Elizabeth McPherson Berry, was born 1835 and died November 6 1910. [1] He married Edna Stephenson, daughter of Lemaster ad Mary Jane Stephenson, April 16 1867. [2]
He first served in Company B, 9th Battalion then as a First Sergeant in
Company G. 25th Infantry in the Confederate Army. In the "Battle of the Wilderness" two men attempting to capture him and he killed them with the butt of his gun. He was captured, sent to Belle Point, on to Pt Lookout the to Elmira prison August 10 1864. After taking the oath of allegiance he was released June 13 1865. [3]
