Biography

Calloway Underwood Bewley was born on the 6th of November 1856 in Barren, Kentucky to William Bewley and Lucy Franklin .[1][2]

He had many siblings from both of his parents first marriages:

  • Amanda Jane Bush (1832-1917)
  • Delilah Elizabeth Bush (1834-1911)
  • Isaac Bush (1839-1906)
  • Josiah Bush (1846-?)[3][4]
  • Hezekiah Bush (1846-?)[3][4]
  • William Billy Bush(1842-?)[3]
  • Peter Bush
  • Walter Bush

William Bewley and Elizabeth Bridges:

In 1860[3] His mother has remarried to William and she is living near the Glasgow Post office in Distrct 2, Barren, Kentucky. In the home are William 57, Lucy 49, Thomas 18, Calaway 3, William Bush 18, Josiah Bush 14, Hez Bush 14, Elizabeth Berry 12 and Mary Berry 6 (relationship to be determined for Elizabeth and Mary)

In 1870[4] William has passed away, and again his mother is a single mother. We find her living with her son, Hezekiah Bush, and other children. In the home are Hezekiah, 24, a farmer with a real estate value of $1,200 and personal estate of $500, Josiah 24, with a real estate value of $1,250 and personal estate of $500, Lucy 58, with a real estate value of $400 and personal estate of $300, Mary Bush 23, Wash Bush 15, Amanda Bush 10, Caloway Bewley 12. I believe Mary to be her daughter-in-law and Wash and Amanda to be her grandchildren, but I am unsure of which son.

He would marry Alice Woods and they would have 2 children:

He would also marry Darliska Haggard Jones[5]about 1884[6] and they would have nine children:

In 1880[8]

In 1900[6] They were living in Tracy, Barren Kentucky. He confirmed they had been married for 16 years, and he was a self-employed farmer. They owned their farm and were mortgage-free.

He would pass away on the 9th of March 1902[9][5] in Glasgow, Barren, Kentucky.
