Biography

Fannie was born Dec 12, 1898, (or 1902) (some differences in dates)in Nashville TN. Her father was Wade W. Biggs, her Mother was Ellen (Sam Ella) Russell Vick Biggs Noaks.

1900 Tn. Census shows Fannie in home of origin. Sisters in household, Rebecca, Gerty, Georgia, Berdie, and Nora. Brothers, Jury and Bates William.

1910 Census shows Ellen (Sam Ella) Biggs as HOH. Fannie age 12.Gertie age 15.

Some time after Bates William was born, Wade and Sam Ella divorced or separated. We know this because the 1910 TN Census shows both Sam Ella and Wade as a widowed HOH.

After the divorce, or separation, Sam Ella was left to raise and support 8 children. Several of her children were placed with foster families. Fannie was sent to live with Arizona "Zona" Biles Compton Cassetty. Zona was married to James Cassetty who was part of the Cassetty Coal Company, a large business in Nashville. Zona remained part of our extended family until her death.

Fannie married William Baxter Binkley on March 15,1926. Marriage License 37332. License shows Baxter's Father as William Franklin Binkley, and his Mother as Bertha Noe.

Fannie's Sister, Georgia Biggs Earp died shortly after the birth of her 7th child. Georgia's husband locked the remaining children in a barn and left town. Neighbors took the children in when they heard their shouts for help. The two youngest were girls, Ruby who had just turned one year and Katherine just born. Ruby was taken by the Police and turned over for adoption, Fannie and Baxter took Katherine to raise. ( As told to me by my Aunt Helen Earp Binkley, the oldest of the children left in the barn) Alene Biggs Corbitt. Biggs-2149.

1930 Census shows Fannie, white, female, born in TN. William Baxter, white, male, born in TN. Katherine, white, female, born in TN. All their parents were born in TN. Their residence was 310 Arrington Street, Nashville, TN. Baxter is employed as a laborer in the timber industry.

Fannie died 10/24/1975 in Nashville TN. FAG 187042755.
