He made his living traveling for a wholesale liquor house. [1]
He was shot and killed in Winston-Salem. He was probably shot Monday night, September 11, 1899. He died the next afternoon. [2][1]
Two men were later convicted of second degree murder and received 8 and 6 years in prison. [3]
Brothers of George Binkley: W. A. Binkley of Washington, DC; T. E. Binkley of Danville, VA; and J. W. Binkley of Yadkin County, NC. [1]

"George D. Binkley was born April 19, 1868 in Yadkin County, NC and died September 11, 1899 in Yadkin Co., NC." [see note below] "He married Emily Elizabeth Carter October 27, 1889, daughter of J. Carter and unknown.[5] She was born August 17, 1867, and died January 11, 1935." [4]
He was buried in Yadkin Co., [6] but died in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC. [2]
