Matthew was born on 20 June 1729 in Dorchester, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States. He was the son of Aaron Bird and Mary (Hooper) Bird.[1]
When Matthew was 23 he married Ellinor Ranger on 8 February 1753 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States.[2]
The couple had 7 children: Matthew Bird, Edmund Bird, Edmund Ranger Bird, Abigail Bird, James Seymour Bird, James Lyman Bird and Major Benjamin Bird.[3]
Matthew died at the age of 81 on 23 May 1811 in Old North Burial Ground, Dorchester, MA.[1][3]
