Biography

Martha Bisbee. Born April 21, 1651 in Scituate, MA. She was the daughter of Elisha Besbeech and Joanna UNKNOWN.^[1] She was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate on 27 Apr 1651.^[2]

About 1677 Martha married Jonathan Turner, son of John Turner Sr. (ca 1621-aft 20 May 1697) & Mary Brewster (16 Apr 1627-aft 23 Mar 1698). Born on 20 September 1646 in Scituate, MA. Jonathan was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, in May 1649. Jonathan died in Cohasset, MA, on 18 Apr 1724; he was 77. Occupation: cordwainer.

Jonathan resided near the place now occupied by Cushing Otis, Esq. opposite Union bridge lane. He succeeded to the tannery that his father had built, and built a house on a part of his father’s grant upon the southwest section of the 80 acres.

Martha died in Scituate 24 Mar 1687, eleven days after the birth of a son, Jonathan.^[2]

Jonathan first married Martha Bisbee, second Marcy Hatch, and third Lydia (Hayden) Vinton, widow of Blaise Vinton.
