Biography

George W. Bishop was born on 8 Apr 1808 in Fleming County, Kentucky, United States, son of George D. Bishop and Nancy (Moore) Bishop.

On 13 Feb 1826 George posted bond along with his father in Nicholas County, Kentucky, to marry Hannah E. Scott, daughter of Josiah Scott.[1] They were married on 16 Feb 1826 in Nicholas County by Jonathan Smith.[2] Their children have not all been verified. Some of them include:

  • Sampson Bishop (1825-1895)
  • John Bishop (1829 - 1859)
  • Nancy Harriet Bishop Caywood (1836 - 1864)
  • America Ann Bishop (1840 - 1844)
  • Jacob G. Bishop (1843 - 1844)

In 1830, 1850 & 1860, the family lived in Fleming County.[3][4][5]

George died on 16 Mar 1869 in Fleming County, aged 60. He was buried in Poplar Run Baptist Cemetery, Elizaville, Kentucky.[6]
