Biography

William Glover Bishop was born about 1738 in Tryon County, British Province of North Carolina in what is now Lincolnton, Lincoln County, North Carolina, United States.

By 1771 he had moved on down the Great Wagon Trail to Lawson's Fork Creek, in the British Province of South Carolina, which is in present day Boiling Springs, Spartanburg County, SC. By 1769 this area was named District 96. At that time, this land was the Western border of the colony with the Cherokee Nation. [1]

In 1771, William married Sarah Ballenger. They were the parents of:

  1. Barney Bishop,
  2. Edmund Bishop,
  3. Henry Bishop,
  4. Allen Bishop, and
  5. William L. Bishop

William died on 10 AUG 1823 in Boiling Springs Spartanburg District, South Carolina.[2].[3]
