Biography

Edward Newton was born in 1839. He was the son of Aaron Bishop and [[Gertridge-6}Rebecca Gertridge]].

He married 7 Sep 1859 in Canaan, Kings Co., Nancy Amanda Benjamin.

He worked as a carpenter. He emigrated to Massachusetts for a time and lived in the Boston Highlands area.

In 1891, Newton E., carpenter, 52, Nancy A., 49, Lilla A., 30, Phoebe L., 28, Florena A., 26, Ezekiel P., farmer, 22, Minnie R., 20, Perrie W., farmer, 16, Fannie M., 14, Austin H., 12 and Laura A., 6, were residing in Canaan.

In 1901, Newton E., farmer, 62, Nancy A. 59, Phoebe, 38, Perry W., farm labourer, 25, Fannie M., 23, Laura A., 16, Archie L., 4, Frank N. Keddy, domestic, 15 and Sarah Greenwood, lodger, 79, b. USA, were residing in Canaan.

He passed away in 1924 [1] and is buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville.
