It can be ascertained that Joseph Bishop born about 1767 because he was minor and under the age of 21 years old on 18 January 1785 upon his petition appointing Edward Hunter to be his guardian.^[1]

Upon the petition of Joseph Bishop and Betty Two of the children of Thomas Bishop senr. late of Edgmont decd. who are minor and under the Age of twenty one years, Edward Hunter is by this Court admitted and appointed their Guardian.^[1]
