Biography

Jehiel Bishop was born in 1837 to William Bishop and Elizabeth Bennett.

He married 21 Jun 1868, Dametta Rosanna Geldart. The 25 Jun 1868 edition of the Christian Visitor reported: "m. 21st inst., by Elder W.A. Crandall, Hial Bishop / Miss Demett R. Geldard both of Elgin (Albert Co.) [1] She was born 5 Apr 1847.

In 1871, Hiel, shoe maker, 30, Damietta, 24, Minnie M., 2 and Edgar M., 7 months, were residing in Albert Co., New Brunswick. [2]

In 1881, Hile [sic], boot and shoe maker, 40, Demitta [sic], 32, Minna [sic], 12, Edgar, 10, William, 7, Sarah P., 6, Jerushie [sic] E.,, 4 and Netta [sic], 1 were residing in Albert Co., New Brunswick. [3]

In 1891, Hiel, hotel keeper, 51, Demetita [sic], 43, Edgar, general labourer, 20, W. Harris, general labourer, 17, Sarah P., 15, Jerusia [sic] C., 13, Nettie J., 11, Leonard H., 9, Bessie C., 6, were residing in Albert Co., New Brunswick. [4]

In 1901, Hiel, hotel keeper, 65, Etty R., 54, William H., labourer, 27, Netty J., 20, Lenard H., 18, Bessie C., 15 and Jacob Plotkin, 40, servant?, born Germany, were residing in Albert Co., New Brunswick. [5]

He died in 1929 [6] and is buried in the Old Elgin Cemetery, Elgin, Albert Co., New Brunswick.[7]
