Research Note

NOTE: Regarding "middle name" Stiles. No record has been found supporting this as a middle name for Abigail Bissell. Middle names were generally unheard of until late in the 1700s. Henry Reed Stiles' book, The Stiles Family in America. Genealogies of the Connecticut Family... (https://archive.org/details/stilesfamilyinam00stil/page/52) does not list an Abigail Stiles until a birth in 1749. Further, there is no relation in Abigail Bissell's direct line with the Stiles family to warrant memorializing it in a second name. For that reason, the middle name Stiles has be deleted from this profile.
