Research Notes

On April 5, 1711, Peter Buell of Simsbury, and Mary his wife, formerly married to Jacob Bissell, Sr., Administrators of the Estate of Jacob Bissell, Sr., advised the Court that Jacob Bissell, Jr., age 16, the only child of Jacob Bissell had recently died intestate and without issue, and requested that they Mary be allocated the whole of Jacob Bissell, Sr.'s intestate estate. John Pettibone, Jr., in behalf of his wife Mary; Stephen Pettibone, in behalf of his wife Deborah, both sisters of Jacob Bissell, and John Bissell, the son of John Bissell, deceased, and one of the brothers of Jacob Bissell and all of their children requested that all of then intestate estate be awared to them. The court awarded the intestate estate to Peter and Mary Buell, but the Court of Assistants reversed awarding it to Jacob Bissell's brothers and sisters.[7]

The Probate record for Jacob Bissell suggests he only had one child, Jacob Bissell, Jr. See bio. Purported daughter Mary's unsourced profile indicates that her last name is unknown but may be Bishop. Consider detaching her from Jacob Bissell.
