He married Mary Gillett before 1689 in Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. [1][4]
In 1694 Jacob was listed for taxes as was his father, Samuel Bissell, Sen. in Simsbury, CT[5]
He died on 1 August, 1694 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.[1][6][3] Estate was inventoried on 23 August 1694[6] Final settlement after appeals was settled on 6 Oct., 1712 giving the estate to brothers and sisters of Jacob Bissell (see detail below).[6]
On April 5, 1711, Peter Buell of Simsbury, and Mary his wife, formerly married to Jacob Bissell, Sr., Administrators of the Estate of Jacob Bissell, Sr., advised the Court that Jacob Bissell, Jr., age 16, the only child of Jacob Bissell had recently died intestate and without issue, and requested that they Mary be allocated the whole of Jacob Bissell, Sr.'s intestate estate. John Pettibone, Jr., in behalf of his wife Mary; Stephen Pettibone, in behalf of his wife Deborah, both sisters of Jacob Bissell, and John Bissell, the son of John Bissell, deceased, and one of the brothers of Jacob Bissell and all of their children requested that all of then intestate estate be awared to them. The court awarded the intestate estate to Peter and Mary Buell, but the Court of Assistants reversed awarding it to Jacob Bissell's brothers and sisters.[7]
