I have seen his birthplace as Delaware - no source I believe his father was William Bivins an inn keeper in Baldwin whose wife was "Polly" possibly Mary Polly Melson. I have no record of if Polly was the mother of John, but I think Polly was the mother only of the youngest child [Martin Luther Bivins] I have seen the first wife mentioned as Abigail somewhere. John owned a stable a few miles outside of Milledgeville and in Wilkinson County. According to the will of his father, John died before 1828 the date of the father's will. John's wife was "Susan" and he had two sons, Appleton and William. The will does not mention Jane [or Jean].
