Research notes

Wedding Article: COSGROVE. (From Our Own Correspondent.). BROWN—BLACK WEDDING.[3] The above wedding which was celebrated at the Union Chapel on Wednesday, 20th April, caused quite a stir amorgst residents in this part of the district. Mr. Albert James Brown, third son of Mr. and Mrs. James Brown, now of Prahran, but, who until a few weeks ago resided on their farm " Noorendoo," Cosgrove, and Miss Louisa Jane Black, eldest daughter of Mrs. J. P. Black (who it will be remembered left these parts, and, with her late husband, took up land in Pillana Eyres Peninsular. Sth Australia), were the contracting parties. The young couple were well known and highly respected throughout the district. The bride, who was given away by her eldest brother, was charmingly attired in embroidered voile trimmed with lace; the customary wreath and veil being worn. The bridesmaid, Miss Guyatt, was prettily dressed in silk crepe, and carried a handsome bouquet of dahlias, cosmos and maiden hair fern. Mr. H. J. Skinner acted as best man. The Chapel was very nicely decorated for the occasion, and when the bridal party entered the building, the church choir sang "The Voice that Breathed o'er Eden," Mr. R. Marshall officiating at the organ. Mr. H. M. Clipstone, Evangelist of the Church of Christ, was the officiating clergyman, and the service was admired by a large gathering of friends and relatives. As the party left the building the organist played the Wedding March, and the friends showered the bride and groom with confetti. The party then went to "Myrtlewood," the residence of Mr. Kellow, where a splendid wedding breakfast was partaken of, and after three sittings the usual toasts were honored. Mr. Colliver, of Shepparton, was present, and photographed the party in different attitudes, and after many hearty handshakes, good wishes, good humored joking and clouds of confetti, the train carried the happy couple on their way to the metropolis, where they will spend their honeymoon, and then they will go to their future home at Carwarp, near Mildura, where Mr. Brown has taken up land. Among .the host of valuable presents received were a number of cheques.
