John was born in 1894. He was the son of Alexander Blackburn and Johanna Abel. He was a WWI veteran, serving in Company D of the 329th Infantry from 22 Apr 1918 to 15 Feb 1919. He married Alma Potthast and had one daughter. He passed away in 1959.
