Elizabeth Blackford was born in 1840 in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire, England to Thomas Blackford and Rebecca (Davis/Davies) Blackford. Her birth was registered in Pershore, Worcestershire in the second quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Davies.[1]
Elizabeth Blackford, daughter of Thomas & Rebecca, was christened on 12 or 18 Oct 1840 in Elmley Castle.[2][3]
In 1841 Elizabeth Blackford (age 1) lived at Mill Street in Elmley Castle with her father Thomas (49), mother Rebecca (29), sister Ann (4), brother Henry (2), and two others: Samuel Mosely (15) and Hannah Collins (14).[4]
In 1851 Elizabeth Blackford (age 10, Scholar at Home) lived at Elmley Village in Elmley Castle with her father Thomas (59, Malster Employ 1 Man), mother Rebecca (39), and six siblings: Ann (14, Scholar at Home), Henry (12, Day Scholar), Mathar (8, Scholar at Home), Mary (8, Scholar at Home), Sarah (7, Scholar at Home), and Susanna (6, Scholar at Home), as well as servant Harriet Rance (23).[5]
In 1861 Elizabeth Blackford (age 20, Milliner) lived in Elmley Castle with her widowed mother Rebecca (49, Maltster Baker etc) and five siblings: Ann Davies (24), Henry (22, Baker etc), Martha (18, Schoolmistress), Sarah (17, Teacher), and Susannah (16), as well as boarder George Tarrant (4, Scholar) and servant Benjamin Spanou (22, Groom etc).[6]
In 1871 Elizabeth Blackford (age 29) lived in Elmley Castle.[7]
In 1881 Elizabeth Blackford (age 39) lived in Elmley Castle with her mother Rebecca (69, Beer Retailer), sister Mary Tipping (38), nephew Henry B Tipping (8, Scholar), and two boarders: Eliza Berry (12, General Domestic Servant) and Robert Long (24, C Miller).[8]
In 1891 Elizabeth Blackford (age 48, Miller & Baker) lived at Netherton Lane in Elmley Castle with visitor Eliza Blackford (42, Living On Her Own Means) and servant Clara Meredith (15, General Servant Domestic).[9] [visitor Eliza Blackford (1849-1918) was the daughter of William Blackford and his wife Jane (nee Owens)]
Elizabeth Blackford passed away on 5 Jun 1896, aged 56 years. Her death was registered in Pershore in the second quarter of the year.[10] Probate of her estate was granted to Sarah Blackford on 26 Aug 1896.[11]
