Research Note

Note- Work in progress. I do not think the following is the same Phoebe.. John Hayes did marry a Phoebe and they had a daughter named Phoebe that married William Jernigan for what its worth...

Phebe Jernigan, widow of Henry Jernigan was married to John Hays by 1746 when the final settlement of Henry's estate was reported to the courts. At that time, Jesse and Dempsey Jernigan had reached the age of 21 years.[2]

Phoebe seems to have picked up an extra husband named Henry Jernigan. Do you know which one is correct?

Yes. Thanks for the prompting! Mystery solved! The two Henrys were cousins.
