There is a birth for James Blackmore in Devon in 1847[2] His brother, Thomas also had a mother's maiden name of NOTT but was not registered with any middle name.
There is an 1851 census entry for Thomas and Mary in Witheridge, Devon for Thomas and Mary with children, Mary Ann, James and Thomas.[4] However, this shows Thomas as being born in Witheridge, rather than in Surrey.
I wonder whether James really is the son of Thomas Greenslade Blackmore.
