I (M.Z.) have misplaced my list of sources for the ancestors of Sarah Blackwell. I am adding this image of a family tree as a suggestion for further research but NOT as a properly footnoted document.
Her husband was John Carey and/or Abraham (aka Abram) Carey. Although some feel that or she may have been married to Abraham then John, her children's birth and death records suggest that Abraham was sometimes called John.
Review this and you will probably agree that Abraham and John were the same person:
On Margaret's birth record of 1851, Abraham is listed as the father.[2] John is listed as her father on her death record.[3]
On Elizabeth Carey's birth record of 16 Jul 1854, Abraham is listed as father of Elizabeth.[4]
On Wm. Watson Carey's birth record of 1858, ? is listed. John is listed as the father on his death record.[5][6]
On Abraham Carey (jr) 's birth record of 26 Oct 1861, Abraham is listed as the father.[7]
On Susan Carey's birth record of 16 Feb 1864, Abraham is listed as the father.[8]
The records that are viewable record that the children were born in St Patricks Parish , East End of Eleuthera (The Anglican parish established at Gov Harbour ca 1848)
