Biography

Enoch Dellivan "Dell" Blackwell was born on 15 Jan. 1922[1] at Elmira, Chemung County, New York, USA.[2] He appeared on the census of 15 April 1930 in the household of his parents, Enoch Arden Blackwell and Cora Margaret (Rathbone) Blackwell[2], at Elkland, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.[3] He appeared on the census of 1 May 1940 in the household of Enoch Arden Blackwell and Cora Margaret Rathbone at Elkland, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.[4]

He began military service in the US Navy on 31 May 1943 at South Bend, Indiana. He was on board the U.S.S. Smith (DD-378) Dec. 18, 1943 to Mar. 2, 1946. He ended military service on 25 Aug. 1946 at San Francisco, San Francisco County, California.[2]

He married Joan Wilson Shephard[2], daughter of Wilson H. Shephard, on 24 Sep. 1948. He and Joan Wilson Shephard were divorced circa 1957.[5]

He married Theresa Elizabeth Stanek on 18 Oct. 1960.[5]

Dell died on 20 May 2005[1] at age 83 and was buried at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut.[6] His memorial has a photo of his headstone with the inscription: "Ret. Capt. US Navy, WWII Korea" and a link to Theresa's memorial.[7]
