Biography

Anderson was born around 1827. He is the son of John Smith Blair and Pollianna Baisden. He died in 1902.

1850 Census Logan, Logan, Virginia - John Blair (farmer, 52, born around 1798 VA), Polly Blair (50 born around 1800 VA), Mahulda Blair (23 born around 1827 VA), Anderson Blair (20 born around 1830 VA), Joseph Blair (17 born around 1833 VA), Florina Blair (15 born around 1835 VA), Rhoda Blair (13 born around 1837 VA), and Clarissa Prideman (9 born around 1841 VA). [1]

1850 Anderson (like his brother Joe) married a McCoy woman named Louisa who is a cousin to Julia. [2]

1860 US Census District 1, Pike, Kentucky - Anderson Blair 30 born in VA around 1830, Louisa Blair 24 born in VA around 1836, Harison Blair 6 born in KY around 1854, Mary Blair 5 born in KY around 1855, Nancy A 2 born in KY around 1858, Henry Dempsey 25 born in VA around 1835. [3]

1880 US Census Chapmanville, Logan, West Virginia - Anderson Blair 50 married farmer, Louisa Blair wife 47, Harrison son 26 farm hand, Mahulda daughter 19, Jos S son 16 farm hand, Malissa daughter 14, Rosa Bell daughter 10, America daughter 7, Jno E R son 4, and Clark Smith farm hand 16 and born in KY. 1900 US Census chapmanville west side, Logan, West Virginia - Anderson Blair (head, 71, married 50 years since around 1850, DOB May 1829 WV), Louisa Blair (66, married 50 years, DOB Jan 1834 WV, father born in KY, her mother mother in KY, mother of 11 children, 7 children living), Peter C Dingers (grandson, 18, single, born Feb 1882 WV), and Fay Degarnette (granddaughter, 6, born Apr 1894 WV). [5]

1902 Apr 15 Death of Anderson blair. He was 75 and single. Born around 1827 in West Virginia. [6]

Research Notes

From a reliable Vance cousin and family information: Samuel Dillion is her (Julia Ann Lowe) step-father. Her mother was Susan Lowe Dillon. Julia Ann used her mother's maiden name Lowe due to being born out of wedlock. It is widely thought in family circles that her father was Anderson Blair
