Biography

Quaker records^{[1] [2]}give her full name as Mary Elizabeth, but her gravestone^[3] reads Elizabeth Starbuck. The inscription is "The righteous shall be held in everlasting remembrance".

Her niece Flora Gray Jerome referred to her as "Aunt Lizzie."

She was the youngest of the 12 children of John Blair and Elizabeth Tomlinson. Her first husband, whom she married in November 1861, was Jesse Clinton Blair, her second cousin once removed. He died in 1866, and in 1869 she married Lewis Starbuck.
